About Us

Assistance League is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit, non-political, nonsectarian service organization. The San Luis Obispo County chapter was chartered in 1996 and is dedicated to recognizing the potential of volunteers in helping those less fortunate to a better, more meaningful life here in our county. Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization serving families and children through our philanthropic programs.

Treasurer's Report

Our Chapter is in sound financial shape. The 2013-2014 financial statements were reviewed and audited by our CPA. The results of our efforts were validated and showed that 81% of all expenditures were spent on program services. We spend cautiously and wisely. We are required by the national organization guidelines to always maintain one year’s projected expenses in reserve. Our reserve is well within that requirement. We are a nonprofit organization in which the community can feel comfortable in financially supporting our mission to clothe needy children in our County.

Funding for our philanthropic programs is raised through a variety of chapter events, the chapters Thrift Store, a direct mailer, electronic mail fundraiser, grant writing as well as through the generosity of private contributors, foundations, service organizations and municipalities. All funds stay within our County to support our programs.
